Fancode European Cricket series
What an end it was to week 1 of 5 of the Fancode European Cricket a series, Spain Barcelona.
I felt that there was a hundred brewing today, but never expected there to be two!!! and in such explosive and entertaining style.
In a day in which a massive 1189 runs were scored, two master blasters entered the ECS Hall of Fame. First up in the early morning opener in match 21 of 124, was Catalunya Tigers CC player Mustansar Iqbal, scoring his 100 of just 31 balls, finishing on 107. That helped the Tigers post the biggest score of the series so far, 161 for 4 in a comfortable victory over X1 Stars CC. Catalunya’s Yasir Ali also made valuable runs with the bat, but he was certainly the star player with the ball, taking 3 for 14 against Gracia CC and also 3 for 21 against the Men in Blue.
The day, and first week was to end in style too, it was going to take something special for Gracia CC to beat the gutsy, and unbeaten Bengalí CC in match 25.
This came in the form of left hander Gurwinder Bajwa, it wasn’t the sun shining down on him, but a rainbow, as he took the Bengalí CC bowling apart scoring 101 of 34 ball, amazingly the 2nd ton of the day!! That helped Gracia CC beat Bengalí and leaves group A set up for a exciting conclusion.
It’s the turn of group C and D starting at 08.30 Monday, remember, you can check out all the info at europeancricket.com.
