Fluent Finance Abroad Costa del Sol CC Vs Granada CC

Match Day 2 of the league started with nice and sunny weather and temperature around 22 degree Celcius. As all was setup for an exciting day of cricket at The Cartama Oval between Costa del Sol CC & Granada CC.

Granada CC won the toss and elected to bat first. Jaime Riley and Phil Hall got the new ball for CDS and Jaime bowled a fantastic maiden over to start the innings. Phil Hall on the other side kept tight line and length, Granada innings never got momentum and lost both their openers (Paul & Sebin) in first 5 overs, with Jaime and Phil getting both batsman caught by  wicket-keeper AJ, who had a fantastic day behind the stumps.

Phil Hall continued the excellent work and struck two more time to get Stan S. LBW for 8, and then dismissing Todd D. for 14 with marvellous catch from Kenroy (Moment of the day). Mike Epps on the other end tried to keep the score ticking, but Granada’s inning never got the momentum as Phil Hall once again dismissed Granada’s number 6 (Chris Brown) & number 7 (G. Randall) for duck. Ric (R Hatchman) then came to bowl and bowled with some speed to get R.George LBW for 8.
In the end A. Hameed hit some lusty blows and scored 4 boundaries, it looks Granada will post a good total, but things changed again as Hameed was cleaned bowled by Lee Rimmer for 19, who then got Stuart Ross LBW for duck in the same over.
Kenroy who bowled with some serious pace, cleaned bowled the last batsman G O’Brian for duck to end Granada’s inning at 90 in 22.3 overs. Granada’s number 5 Mike Epps left stranded at the one end with 12 not out, as he didn’t got any support from the other end.

CDS chasing 90 runs, opened the inning with Lee Rimmer and Gurnam. The innings got off to a good start as both openers scored 25 runs of first 3 overs. Gurnam then got bowled by the bowling of Stuart Ross for a quick 14 runs. Jaime Riley joined in the crease and played some fantastic shots and scored quick-fire 25, before getting bowled of the bowling of R. George. On the other end Lee Rimmer scored quickly from ball one, and kept hitting boundaries at brisk pace. Lee remained not out on 46, With Jeremy not out of 0 as the total was chased in 8.3 overs.

Result- CDS won by 8 Wickets
